Man facing OWI charges after rear-end crash on Beltline

MADISON, WI – An allegedly drunk driver is facing charges after he rear-ended another person on the Beltline on Monday afternoon, according to information from NBC 15 News.

The crash happened on the eastbound Beltline (Highway 12) near Gammon Road at about 12:30 p.m., when a man who was allegedly speeding crashed into the back of a sedan. The impact caused the sedan to collide with a shoulder wall.

The striking driver then went into a ditch, where he crashed into a fence. His vehicle went airborne, and he collided with two vehicles parked nearby. His vehicle overturned as a result.

The driver, who police say was driving erratically prior to the crash, was taken into police custody on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, his second offense.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.
