MADISON, WI – Madison Police arrested a woman Sunday for driving under the influence and crashing her vehicle with a toddler inside.
The incident happened just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of Belt Line Highway eastbound and Fish Hatchery Road, which is just southeast of the University of Wisconsin – Madison Arboretum.
The investigation indicates that a vehicle overturned after striking a median. Authorities found alcohol in the vehicle at the scene of the accident.
A toddler in the vehicle was unhurt in the collision, while the 22-year-old driver went to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Authorities charged the driver with child neglect, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and driving without a valid license.
