Narrative
ELK GROVE, WI – A 37-year-old man went to the hospital on Tuesday after a train struck his farm truck at railroad crossing 183927E in Elk Grove.
The incident happened around 12:40 p.m. at the crossing just north of US-12 970th Street, which is southeast of Elk Grove High School.
The investigation indicates that the driver of the truck parked too close to the tracks while turning north from eastbound US-12. The westbound Union Pacific Railroad train struck the truck, causing it to flip and spill its load of corn.
Medics transported the truck driver to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Officials closed roadways in the vicinity of the accident while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
