MARQUETTE COUNTY, WI – A five-vehicle crash on I-39 left eight people, including three children, injured Sunday afternoon, NBC 15 reported.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said the collision happened when a car going north on I-39 lost control of the steering wheel and flipped over a median. This car then hit another car going south.
Following this crash, a semi-trailer slowed down in the northbound lane and was struck by another vehicle. The car that hit the semi-trailer was also hit.
According to authorities, a 61-year-old Pewaukee man was airlifted to a hospital in Madison for non-fatal injuries. The three passengers in his car suffered minor injuries and were taken to a Portage hospital.
Other victims included a driver – a 28-year-old Beloit woman, and her three children. All of whom suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Wisconsin State Patrol and Marquette County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the multi-vehicle crash.
