Narrative
MADISON, WI – A 58-year-old male pedestrian died late last Friday night after a vehicle struck him along the highway in west Madison.
The incident occurred around 11:13 p.m. on the eastbound side of the Beltline Highway, or US-14, between North Gammon Road and South Whitney Way, which is just southeast of West Towne Mall and north of Woodman’s Food Market.
Police have not shared any details about the vehicle involved in the accident, nor have they clarified if the driver remained at the scene to render aid. They say that the pedestrian died at the scene.
Officials closed the eastbound side of Beltline Highway near South Whitney Way for over two hours while crews worked at the scene. All lanes re-opened by around 1:47 a.m.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
