Narrative
NELSON, WI – Two 59-year-old motorcyclists died Friday in a multi-vehicle, wrong-way collision along the highway in Nelson.
The accident happened around 10:38 a.m. on WI-35, or Great River Road, at Deer Creek Road. This is just south of Cedar Ridge Resort and Cabins.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a northbound pickup truck entered the southbound lanes of the highway and collided head-on with three southbound motorcycles.
Two of the motorcycle operators died at the scene, while the third went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims but say they were both from Minnesota.
The 34-year-old wrong-way driver did not sustained injuries in the collision. It’s unclear if he will face charges.
