Narrative
NELSON, WI – A 63-year-old truck driver died on Monday after losing control of and crashing an 18-wheeler hauling manure along the highway in Nelson.
The incident happened around 5:05 p.m. in the area of S868 Highway 25, which runs through Nelson-Trevino Bottoms State Natural Area.
The investigation thus far indicates that for unknown reasons, the southbound 18-wheeler veered across the northbound lanes of traffic and left the roadway, overturning in a ditch. The truck caught fire, and manure spilled from the trailer.
The driver of the semi died a the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
