Narrative
BARRON, WI – A 73-year-old man died on Saturday in Barron after a vehicle struck his motorcycle at a busy intersection on the east side of town.
The incident happened around 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 8 and County Road O, which is just west of Peace Memorial Highway and south of Rice Lake Regional Airport.
Police say that a driver struck a motorcycle as the former driver turned onto Highway 8 after stopping for a stop sign on County Road O.
The motorcyclist, identified as Steven Roest, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 68-year-old Caryn Becker, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
