Narrative
ARKANSAW, WI – A head-on collision along the highway in north Pepin County earlier this month killed a child and hurt three other people.
The accident occurred on Friday, August 6, around 2:40 p.m. on US-10 just east of Sylvester Road, which is southeast of Plum Creek Woods State Natural Area.
The investigation indicates that an eastbound 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix veered into the westbound lane and crashed head on into a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, which carried a family of four.
A 12-year-old girl died at the scene, and an 8-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries. Both an adult driver and an adult passenger were also hospitalized, one with critical injuries.
The driver of the Pontiac, identified as 18-year-old Ethan R. Whitman, also died in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
